Under general direction, a Police Lieutenant supervises and coordinates the activities and operations of assigned law enforcement services of the Police Department, including roles such as Watch Commander(s), Investigations and Operations Support Assistant Commander, Resource Management Division Commander, Recruiting & Training Division Commander or other assignments as deemed appropriate by the Chief of Police. Work involves coordinating activities with other departments and agencies and providing complex staff assistance to the Bureau Commanders (Police Captain).

Associates degree from an accredited college or university; or currently enrolled in an accredited college or university with a minimum of sixty (60) credit hours towards a Bachelor's degree. Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible law enforcement experience, including management/administrative experience. Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience with a Law Enforcement Agency. Current Virginia DCJS certification. Possession of a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Police Science, Business Administration, Public Administration or a related field. Bilingual in English/Spanish.
