Reporting directly to the Fleet Maintenance Manager, the ideal candidates will oversee the routine upkeep and repair of our Ready-Mix trucks while ensuring that our workshop remains safe and organized. Compensation: Starting at $31 for experienced mechanics

Your Responsibilities

EXPECTED OUTCOMES AND DELIVERABLES

  • Install, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, physical structures, plumbing, and electrical systems according to specifications and manuals.
  • Conduct visual inspections and listen to machinery to identify the causes of malfunctions.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues in electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
  • Communicate promptly and effectively with shop management regarding significant issues.
  • May operate mobile equipment, including service trucks, to retrieve non-operational vehicles.
  • Perform daily preventative maintenance, including fueling, cleaning, tire and light inspections, and checking and replenishing fluids on service vehicles.
  • Service pumps and motors as required.
  • Engage in welding, repair, and fabrication tasks.
  • Order parts necessary for repairs as needed.
  • May conduct service calls at other company facilities or job sites as required.
  • Assist in training fellow employees as necessary.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the work area.
  • Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Experience in managing a heavy-duty truck maintenance facility.
  • Strong understanding of mechanics related to truck and general maintenance.
  • Proficient in using power tools, welders, cutting torches, and various safety equipment.
  • Knowledge of proper maintenance procedures, including lockout/tagout protocols and special work permits.
  • Must be adept with computer systems and software.
    • Familiarity with Allison transmissions, Davie 4, and ESA software is advantageous.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Must have a clean driving record to pass the MVR check.
  • A Commercial Driver’s License is a plus.
  • Must provide personal tools up to ¾ inch.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • A High School Diploma is preferred.
  • 2-5 years of experience as a Heavy-Truck Mechanic is required.
    • Experience with concrete mixers and aggregate haul trucks is preferred.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • May need to travel to various company locations to perform maintenance tasks.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical requirements outlined here represent what an employee must be able to perform to successfully fulfill the essential functions of this role.

  • While executing job duties, the employee will frequently work outdoors and may be exposed to varying weather conditions, including extreme temperatures and precipitation.
  • Regular use of hand-eye coordination, near vision, and hearing is necessary.
  • Frequent standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, bending, reaching, lifting up to 50 lbs, carrying up to 50 lbs, pushing, pulling, and utilizing both fine and gross motor skills are required.
  • Exposure to loud noises, heavy machinery, moving equipment, oil, debris, solvents, smoke, gases, fumes, and aggregate materials is common.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) required includes safety shoes above the ankles, safety vests, safety glasses, earplugs, and hard hats. Additional PPE may be necessary for specific tasks such as welding and repairs.
