We are currently seeking a 3rd Shift Injection Molding Process/Setup Technician to join our team!

Job Overview: The Injection Molding Process/Setup Technician is responsible for reading schedules, installing molds, setting up machines, and optimizing processes to ensure stable, efficient production. This role blends technical processing expertise with hands-on mechanical work, responding quickly when issues arise and restoring the process to standard. The technician supports operators, maintains quality and safety expectations, and keeps the molding floor running reliably and efficiently

Responsibilities:

Mold Setup & Machine Operation

1. Set up, change, and adjust injection molding machines, molds, and auxiliary equipment for scheduled production.
2. Verify mold connections (water, hydraulics, electrical, robotics) and complete safe, accurate start-ups.
3. Monitor and control key process parameters such as temperature, pressure, injection speeds, clamp tonnage, and cycle times.
4. Perform material and color changes and assist with manual equipment cleaning when required.

Process Control & Troubleshooting

1. Diagnose and resolve issues such as flash, short shots, burns, splay, leaks, or inconsistent cycles.
2. Make real-time machine or process adjustments to maintain quality, efficiency, and uptime.
3. Provide feedback during new tool trials, tool design reviews, and production launches.
4. Program, run, and troubleshoot robots and end-of-arm tooling as needed.

Continuous Improvement & Collaboration

1. Partner with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to optimize cycle times, reduce scrap, and improve overall process stability.
2. Assist in process validations, capability studies, and development of standardized operating procedures (SOPs).
3. Maintain accurate documentation of process parameters, changes, downtime, and machine/tooling performance.

Safety & Compliance

1. Follow all lockout/tagout, machine safety, and general plant safety requirements.
2. Maintain a clean, organized work area and support 5S standards.
3. Stay current on molding practices, equipment improvements, and industry trends

Qualifications

1. High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or molding certifications preferred.
2. 3+ years of experience as a molding process technician
3. 3+ years of experience as a mold setup technician.
4. Scientific Molding certification (Master Molder or similar) preferred.
5. Ability to pass a mold processing assessment.
6. Strong understanding of injection molding processes, tooling, resins, and equipment.
7. Ability to read and interpret engineering prints, setup sheets, and specifications.
8. Skilled in troubleshooting root causes and restoring stable, repeatable processes.
9. Strong communication skills with the ability to work with operators, supervisors, and engineering.
10. Detail-focused with commitment to quality, safety, and efficiency.
11. Able to work independently or as part of a team, including overtime when needed.
12. Knowledge of manufacturing safety requirements and best practices.

Physical Requirements:

1. Lift up to 50 lbs routinely.
2. Stand, walk, bend, reach, and move around production floor for extended periods.
3. Perform hands-on tasks including pushing, pulling, climbing on/off machines, and cleaning molds or equipment.

Sunday nights - 8:30pm - 6:30 am
Monday nights - 10:30pm - 6:30 am
Tuesday nights - 10:30pm - 6:30 am
Wednesday nights - 10:30pm - 6:30 am
Thursday nights - 10:30pm - 6:30 am

*Overtime as required*
