Requirements

Minimum: Graduate of an approved Sonography program

Minimum: One (1) year experience as a Sonographer. Preferred: One (1) plus years experience as a Sonographer.

Registered with ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography) required. BLS also required.

Responsibilities The Lead Sonographer at TMH is responsible for performing and interpreting a wide range of ultrasound examinations while ensuring patient safety, maintaining quality standards, and assisting physicians during procedures. Key Responsibilities

PerformUltrasoundExaminations: TheLeadSonographerconductsultrasoundproceduresin neonatal,abdominal,vascular,andOB/Gyn settings.Thisincludesusingadvancedimagingtechniquestoaccuratelycaptureanatomicalstructuresandassessfetaldevelopment.

PatientCareandSafety: Theyensure properpatientcare ,monitorpatientcomfort,andupholdsafetyprotocolsthroughoutexaminations.Applying UniversalProtocolsandGoldenMomentchecks isessentialtopreventerrorsandmaintainpatientsafety.

PhysicianAssistance: TheLeadSonographerassistsprovidersduringcomplexprocedures,providingreal - timeimagingsupportandguidancetofacilitateaccuratediagnosisandtreatmentplans.

IndependentJudgmentandInterpretation: Whileworkingundergeneralguidance,theLeadSonographer exertsindependentjudgment inevaluatinganatomyandinterpretingultrasoundimages,identifyinganomalies,andensuringthequalityofcapturedimages.

QualityAssurance(QA)andDocumentation: Responsibilitiesincludecritiquingallimagesforclarityanddiagnosticutility, maintainingQAstandards ,andimplementingdepartmentalguidelinesforqualitycontrol.Complexexaminationsmayrequireindependentinitiativetoensurepropertechniqueandaccuracy.

SupervisoryRole: Asaleadposition,theroleinvolvesmentoringandsupporting othersonographers ,coordinatingworkflow,andupholdingconsistentstandardsacrosstheimagingteam.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• RDMSorARDMSCertification: Certificationinrelevantspecialties,suchasOB/Gyn,abdominal,orvascularsonography.

• TechnicalProficiency: Competencewithvariousultrasoundmachinesandimagingsoftware.

• ClinicalKnowledge: Understandinganatomy,pathology,fetaldevelopment,andsonographicprotocols.

• LeadershipSkills: Abilitytoguidejuniorstaff,enforcequalitystandards,andmanageworkflowefficiently.

• AttentiontoDetail: Ensuringcriticalstructuresarecapturedaccurately,imagesmeetqualitystandards,anddocumentationiscomplete.

• CommunicationSkills: Effectiveinteractionwithpatients,families,andproviderstoexplainproceduresandaddressconcerns.
