Participants will analyze and discuss literary elements of a story and how the social, political, and economic context influence the work.
Instructional Strategies
1. Use a literature circle to discuss major elements of a story that is developmentally appropriate to the audience.
2. Assign different roles (Questioner or Facilitator) to participants in the Literature Circle.
3. Discuss the story's characters and events.
4. Are the characters realistic or are they symbolic?
5. What motivates the characters to make the choices they do?
6. How does the social, political, or economic context influence the work?
7. Is there a recurring image, phrase, or event that requires analysis?
