Summary

By role-playing different perspectives of the same conflict, participants analyze a situation more carefully and understand stances other than their own.

Instructional Strategies

1. Fill a bowl with descriptions of various roles in a conflict.

2. Pick a particular role with an attached explanation out of the bowl.

3. Play that role in teams of four or five, expressing your beliefs.

4. Debrief with the whole group, adding in different perspectives in time, gender, geography, economy, and ethnicity.

5. Evaluate the roles and perspectives in terms of how they might be different due to lack of access to resources, and assumptions.
