Outside Comfort Zone

Activity that gets people out of their comfort zone, and gradually used to a new way of thinking. Have person fold their hands together and notice which thumb is on top; then unfold hands and place the other thumb on top – how does this feel? Could you do this all day (the uncomfortable way)? Could you adjust? Doing things differently is good for our minds and hearts, and helps us to learn and grow. It takes effort to get used to doing things that are at first uncomfortable. Without taking reasoned risks, we close doors that could open up new opportunities for us. Encourage youth to always ask “Why?” and to share their ideas even if they think they might not be well received.
